Aforisme. Lucian Blaga

This book collects short prose works by Lucian Blaga. These are aphorisms: brief sayings that express a thought. Some come from his family’s archive. The book is in Romanian, in the Filosofie series.

Blaga’s first aphorisms came out in print in 1915. More than 250 appeared in journals before his first collection. That book came out in 1919.

This 2008 edition adds to the book from 1977. It draws aphorisms from the 1973 edition of Ceasornicul de nisip. It also uses notes from the 1930s, not published before. A lecture Blaga wrote by hand is a further source. It was part of his course on the history of religions. He gave that course in Sibiu between 1941 and 1943.
