Animal Farm & 1984

This volume brings together George Orwell’s political novels 1984 and Animal Farm. Both explore power, control, and revolt. It is for readers of political fiction.

In 1984, Winston Smith changes records of the past. He works at the Ministry of Truth in Oceania. His work helps the Party and Big Brother rule its people. Yet Winston begins to rebel, risking grave harm.

In Animal Farm, the animals turn against Farmer Jones. Old Major, a boar, sets out a plan for revolt. The animals believe they can run the farm themselves. But the pigs compete to rule. They start to act like the rulers they drove out.

This edition pairs two of Orwell’s best-known works. Both have drawn readers since the middle of the twentieth century.
