Anticristul

Philip C. Almond traces beliefs about the Antichrist over 2,000 years. He starts with the Bible, then moves through Napoleon to today. Early Christians thought the world would end soon. They thought Satan’s son would take Christ’s place. He would also persecute those with faith in Christ. They searched scripture for ways to spot him. They sought to resist his lies.

This book draws on research into the history of faith. Almond writes for readers with no special knowledge. He traces this figure in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. He looks at his role in art and politics. He also explores his place in philosophy, literature, and film. Almond asks how fear of the worst evil shaped Europe. He asks the same of other cultures, too. People saw lesser signs of evil as warnings of its arrival. Almond studies these signs as well.
