Description
Robin Hood kills a man who serves the Nottingham sheriff. He then flees to Sherwood Forest. He must hide to escape trial and death by hanging. The tale takes place in medieval England. It follows his life outside the law. He and his band rob the rich and proud. They also help poor people whom others treat unfairly.
Their deeds alarm proud nobles. They also alarm priests who fail to live by what they preach. Robin’s band fights with bows and swords and wears disguises. They make bold plans to save friends from the sheriff. King Richard the Lionheart hears of Robin’s fame and takes an interest. He seeks Robin out with an offer that brings a happy ending.
This tale of adventure is for children. It explores courage, loyalty and the unfair use of power. This edition retells Howard Pyle’s version for young readers.
