Băieții din Biloxi

Keith Rudy and Hugh Malco grow up in the 1960s. Their home is Biloxi, Mississippi. Both boys have roots in families that came from abroad. Both play Little League baseball well and share a close bond. Their paths split in their teens. In time, the law drives them apart. This leads to a clash in court between two families.

For a century, Biloxi has been known for its beaches. Its resorts and seafood trade have helped shape that name. Yet crime and graft thrive there too. A small group runs gambling and prostitution. These men also deal in illegal liquor and drugs. They take part in murder for hire as well. Rumours link them to the Dixie Mafia.

John Grisham’s legal thriller returns to Mississippi. It suits readers who like crime and clashes in court. It also deals with torn loyalties. Plot twists trace how the friends’ lives change. For this edition, Gabriel Stoian translated the English text. Its title is The Boys From Biloxi.

Grisham writes novels and nonfiction. Publishers Weekly named him the top-selling novelist of the 1990s. His novel Dosarul Pelican (1992) sold about 11 million copies. That figure covers the United States alone. His books have come out in 40 languages. Nine have become films. In an interview, he said he usually needs six months to write a book. He also named John Le Carré as his favourite author.
