Calatorie spre soareapune

A magic monkey must learn to use his powers for good. He guards the monk Xuan Zang on a journey to India. The monk seeks sacred Buddhist texts, but demons threaten his life. Two more followers, Porc and Nisipos, help keep him safe. Their foes believe eating the monk will grant them endless life.

This fantasy adventure is for readers aged eight to fourteen. It blends humour and danger with questions about courage and guilt. The monkey grows from a troublemaker into a hero. His task calls on him to face his faults.

The story draws on Chinese myths and tales about Xuan Zang. Wu Cheng’en wrote the work in the 1590s. Its monsters can also stand for the flaws within each traveller. This Romanian paperback edition lists Christine Suh as its author. Curtea Veche published the 64-page book in 2017.
