Cartea cu Apolodor (ilustrata de Dan Ungureanu) ART

Apolodor the penguin leaves his friends and heads for the South Pole. He hopes to find peace with his brothers from Labrador. Suzi the camel, Buză-Lată the rabbit, and Tit the kitten try to stop him. But his longing for distant places and vast ice fields wins out. His journey takes him around the world.

Gellu Naum tells this adventure in verse for children and adults. Each chapter forms a funny poem that children can learn by heart. The poems explore animals, places around the world, and feelings. Adult readers can also find political satire and deeper human themes.

The book plays with how stories work as well. Its narrator shifts between an innocent voice and a playful one. Apolodor himself shows courage at times, but not always. These shifts give readers more than one way to read the tale. This edition includes illustrations by Dan Ungureanu.
