Coliba unchiului Tom

Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel tells Tom’s story. He is a Black man held as a slave. His life links those of other slaves and slave owners. The book shows how slavery harms people’s lives. It argues that Christian love can heal that harm.

The novel first came out in 1852. It draws on strong feelings to make its case against slavery. It helped win support to end slavery in the United States. Yet it also spread racial stereotypes, or fixed views of racial groups. These later shaped how people viewed the book.

CARTEX 2000 issued this Romanian paperback in 2016. It has 240 pages. It forms part of a series of books recommended for school reading.
