Description

Cosmos traces how the universe gave rise to life and thought. Carl Sagan follows fourteen billion years of change in space. He looks at how life began and how our brains work. He explores Egyptian hieroglyphs, the signs used in ancient Egypt. He also looks at missions into space. He shows how galaxies change and how the Sun will die.

Sagan writes about science for readers with no special training. He sets human life against the vast scale of space. He looks at the people and forces that shaped modern science. He links its past to its present and future.

Sagan wrote more than thirty books. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1978. His work helped change the science of planets. The TV documentary Cosmos won a Peabody Award. It reached 500 million viewers in more than sixty countries.

Alexandru Anghel translated this edition. It forms part of the Mathesis series and has colour pictures. Ann Druyan, who worked with Sagan, wrote a new introduction. Neil deGrasse Tyson wrote a new foreword. He is an astrophysicist, a scientist who studies how space works.
