Description

Maria Sharapova tells her life story in this memoir. It spans her childhood tennis, world titles, and a suspension. She wrote it with Rich Cohen. It shows her drive to compete. It also shows her father’s faith in her talent.

Sharapova was born in Niagan, Russia. She began to play tennis at five. Even then, she could focus well. At six, she moved to the United States. Her father, Iuri Sharapov, took her to Florida with just $700. He spoke no English but felt she could become a champion.

At seventeen, she won Wimbledon in 2004. She beat Serena Williams, who had won the title twice. At eighteen, she first ranked number one in the world. She held that rank several more times. She won four more Grand Slam titles. She also ranked among the world’s top-paid female athletes.

The book covers the ITF inquiry during the 2016 Australian Open. It dealt with her use of a drug. The drug had just joined the banned list. A suspension kept her from play for fifteen months. She tells how these events fit into her career. Her resolve and hard work shaped that career. Her author bio says she lives in Manhattan Beach, California.

This is a Romanian translation of Unstoppable: My Life So Far. It forms part of the Victoria Books series.
