They also deal with star signs and family lines. Other themes are fear, prejudice, love, and betrayal. Baștovoi draws on the Bible and early Church writers. He describes a God who loves. He weighs claims that parts of the Bible clash.

Baștovoi is a Romanian monk and priest born in Chișinău. He writes poems, translates, and edits. He blends forms of writing but keeps to Orthodox teaching. His books and talks helped renew Romanian preaching in the 2000s. He has written more than twenty books. Their total sales near half a million. In 2013, he represented Romania at the Paris Book Fair. He joined 26 other writers there. Romania was the guest of honour that year. He belongs to two unions in Moldova: one for writers, one for journalists. He also has an entry in the Romanian Orthodox Church’s encyclopedia.
