Earhart

A young mouse longs to see life beyond her vegetable garden. The other mice think their world ends at its edge. Then a stamp showing a huge African cat sparks her curiosity. A digging machine cannot take her there, so she turns to flight. A famed mouse pilot helps her build a flying machine. Her fellow mice object, but she sets off despite them. Her journey brings her to Africa’s big cats and Amelia Earhart. The mouse and the human pilot share a love of flying.

This illustrated adventure by Torben Kuhlmann is for children aged five to nine. It links a mouse’s quest with the human world of flight. Earhart’s fight for women’s rights forms part of that story. Her courage and lasting role as a cultural symbol echo its themes of facing barriers.

Kuhlmann also supplies the book’s colour art. This edition features Marilena Iovu’s translation from German.
