Experienta vidului

Experienta vidului brings together talks by Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. They explore consciousness and what lies beyond it. He asks how consciousness starts. Who knows the sense of being? He sees the world as a form of consciousness. He holds that consciousness has no cause outside itself. Nor does it last forever.

This book is spiritual nonfiction. It is for readers drawn to Advaita teachings and questions about the self. Nisargadatta was a Hindu sage known for his unorthodox ways. He uses reason and direct inquiry, asking questions to seek truth.

The ten chapters start with his basic teachings. They then explore the void, duality, illusion, and suffering. He sets apart two states. Things exist in the everyday world. In the ultimate state, nothing exists. He links wisdom to going beyond one's sense of being a person. He asks readers to question their ties to mind and body. In his view, food and water form the body. Neither the body nor consciousness defines the self. The last chapter explores how suffering might end. It looks at a state before words. The book has a foreword, preface, introduction, and glossary.
