Description

Spring brings outdoor play and new life to a small town. Children play on swings and with balls. Fresh flowers fill homes. A garden fair fills the square. Each page shows a new place. These range from flats to a farm and the town centre. Readers can follow the same people from scene to scene. The scenes have rich detail and funny events to find.

This picture book suits children from age two through school age. They can share it with parents and grandparents. Children can point to people and talk about each scene. They can make up stories from the linked pictures. The pictures help them use their memory and look with care. They can learn words and work on their focus. The scenes also give them room to imagine.

Rotraut Susanne Berner is known for her art in children's books. This book forms part of a set of four volumes. Each one covers a season. The same people appear throughout the set. Some stories carry on from one book to the next. The books show how the world changes through the year. This title won book of the year in Germany in 2006. It has also reached a nineteenth edition.
