Intermezzo Graziella v.2

Marin Mincu’s novel looks at the self through meetings with women. It also looks at how desire shapes that self. Its themes include purity and an original state of androgyny. This means a state that joins male and female traits. The story takes the form of one voice speaking alone. It asks how the self relates to the other.

This work of fiction gives frank accounts of sex. It also focuses on inner life. Nicolae Manolescu finds the sex scenes direct but not crude. He sees a sense of rivalry in them, too. He also notes how honest the prose is. This edition has an afterword by Antonio Patras.
