Kinderland

In Kinderland, Cristina is twelve years old. She cares for her two younger brothers. Their parents have gone abroad to work. She tells of life in a Moldovan village. Children and old people live there. The children must learn to cope and miss their parents. They even try magic to bring them home.

Liliana Corobca’s novel shows how this loss makes children grow up too soon. It pairs harsh village life with warmth and humour. Through Cristina’s eyes, we see both hurt and hope. This 2025 edition is a paperback in Romanian. It forms part of Polirom’s FICTION LTD series.
