Yuri Sergeev is a promising athlete who knows nothing of kumite. In this crime thriller, the term means illegal, full-contact fights. These bouts take place in major cities around the world. The settings range from New York and Los Angeles to Hong Kong.

The story pairs combat with schemes that draw people into danger. Those caught in the trap may welcome what awaits them. They do not yet grasp their role as victims. The book suits readers drawn to sport, crime, and hidden threats.
