Маргарита

Young Princess Marguerite lives in France in the 1500s. Her father loves her best. He is King Henry II. He suffers a fatal wound at a tournament. Her mother, Catherine de’ Medici, fights to keep power.

As Marguerite grows, her family wants to use her for their political aims. They tell her to obey. But she insists on choosing whom to love.

This novel about the past follows her life. She grows up to become Queen Margot. Her fight to be free shapes the tale. So do royal power and family ties. The story draws on research into the past. Some of its sources have no Russian translation.
