Martin Eden

Jack London's novel draws much of its story from his life. It explores class prejudice and the cost of seeking social rank. Martin's quest pits the wish to rise against higher ideals. The book also shows faith in art's power to change lives. It has inspired young writers and artists to pursue their aims. Its themes suit readers drawn to stories of art, ambition, and class.

London's work engaged with the social issues of his time. This edition belongs to the Mari clasici ai literaturii series. Dumitru Mazilu translated the text from English into Romanian.
