MIGRAȚII. Charlotte McConaghy

Franny Lynch sets out to follow Arctic terns. This may be the last time the birds migrate. The story takes place in the near future. Eighty percent of animal species have vanished by then. The birds fly between the poles and must find scarce fish. Franny joins one of the few fishing ships still at sea. She tracks three tagged birds and tries to escape her past.

Charlotte McConaghy’s novel links wildlife loss with one woman’s fight to survive. Franny loves birds but has no formal training. Those who cared for her left her as a child. Love has not healed the wounds she still bears. Her story shows how humans harm the natural world. It also explores the cost of using up its resources.

Nadina Visan translated Migrations from English into Romanian for this edition. Litera published it in 2022 in its Clasici contemporani series.
