The book is for children aged nine to ten. It follows school courses in maths and environmental studies. Children do sums with addition, which means adding numbers. They use subtraction to take one number from another. They work on multiplication, or times sums. They also use division to split numbers into equal parts. Tasks cover fractions, which are parts of a whole. They cover units of measure, too. Children explore geometry, the study of shapes. They also learn about data tables, which show facts in rows and columns.

Each page gives children a mission in the story. The tasks aim to help them think in clear steps. They also aim to build maths skills. This way of learning through play seeks to build their confidence.
