Description

A bank camera records a man shooting a cashier. She dies, and two million Norwegian kroner go missing. Detective Harry Hole then faces a case that threatens him. After drinking with his former lover, Anna Bethsen, he wakes with a headache. His phone has gone, and he cannot recall twelve hours. That same day, Anna turns up dead in her home.

Harry becomes the chief suspect in her death. His enemy, Tom Waaler, leads the inquiry and seeks revenge. As more brutal bank raids follow, Harry pursues both cases. His search takes him from Oslo to Brazil. He must find answers while trying to clear his name.

Nemesis is Jo Nesbø’s fourth Harry Hole crime novel. It suits readers of psychological thrillers with tangled plots and false leads. This translation has the original title Sorgenfri. An earlier Romanian edition appeared under the title Călăul. The novel earned an Edgar Award nomination in 2010.

Born in 1960, Nesbø is also a musician, composer and economist. His books have reached readers in 50 languages. They have sold more than 45 million copies. His awards include the Riverton Prize, CWA International Dagger and Glass Key.
