Orbitor Aripa dreapta

Mircea Cartarescu’s novel links family life and childhood to Romania’s past after communist rule. The tale spans time and places far from each other. These range from Bucharest and Bulgaria to Louisiana and the Netherlands. Mircea looks at forms that recur and things that contrast. He also explores links across the cosmos.

The novel is part of the Orbitor series. This work of fiction blends story and thought. It crosses the bounds between humans and animals. It also crosses the line between life and lifeless matter. Its broad scope seeks to unite life, dreams and what is real.

Cartarescu was born in Bucharest on June 1, 1956. He earned his degree there in 1980. His subjects were Romanian language and literature. He teaches at the University of Bucharest’s Faculty of Letters. He writes poems, prose, essays and criticism. He also works in journalism. His books have come out in many languages.
