Palatul ascuns (Trilogia Fiicele Războiului partea a II-a)

In 1925, Rosalie leaves Paris and heads to Malta. She finds work as a dancer in its bohemian clubs. The island offers refuge to people on the run. New names let them hide their pasts among its old streets.

In 1944, Florence flees the war in France and starts again. Her mother, from whom she has grown apart, asks for help. She wants Florence to find her missing sister, Rosalie. Rosalie went missing years ago. Florence has just one clue: the last letter Rosalie sent. War blocks her search, and she has little time.

Dinah Jefferies sets this novel in two past eras. A family mystery links them. It suits readers drawn to lives at war and family secrets. Lies, acts of betrayal, and silence drive sisters apart. They also keep one generation apart from the next. The story explores love and courage as war tests family bonds. The Romanian edition bears the title Palatul ascuns. Its original title is The Hidden Palace. It is part two of the Fiicele Războiului trilogy.
