Description

Naomi Shaw lived through a knife attack at eleven. Before that, she spent summers in the woods with Cassidy and Olivia. The three friends believed in magic and made up a goddess game. They gave their shared world rites and things of wonder. Then someone stabbed Naomi seventeen times.

Naomi named the man she said had attacked her. What the girls said helped catch a serial killer. He was wanted for the deaths of six women. People hailed the girls as heroes, but all three had lied. They kept a secret that could drive someone to kill. Twenty-two years pass, and Olivia wants to speak out. Naomi seeks the truth of what took place, despite the risks.

Kate Alice Marshall’s novel is a psychological thriller. It moves between the friends’ lives as children and adults. It looks at friendship, broken trust, and the pain of lost love. It also deals with the need to make amends. What the friends recall shapes the stories they tell. Their secrets show the dark side of small-town life. The book suits fans of crime tales with hidden truths. It also offers accounts that shift as the story unfolds.
