Surorile Spring

Four sisters grow up on a military base in New Orleans. Their father serves in Iraq, while their mother seems to hide a secret. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy have different hopes but share fears about their futures.

Meg plans to wed an officer and embrace military life. She hopes to follow the women she admires. Beth takes on much of the work at home. She fears leaving and doubts she will ever know who she is. Jo longs to move to New York and become a journalist. She wants her work to help change the world. Amy, the youngest, learns about life by watching her sisters.

Anna Todd blends romance, family drama and humour in this New Adult novel. It explores first love, the bonds between sisters and the strains of growing up. Todd reworks Louisa May Alcott’s Micuțele doamne for the present day. War, class and family shape the choices the sisters face. The book also speaks to readers of Todd’s earlier work.

Todd began writing on Wattpad after years as a keen reader. Her After series became the platform’s most-read series. It reached print in 2014, then appeared in more than 30 languages. Sales passed eight million copies, with chart leads in Italy, Germany, France and Spain. The series became a New York Times bestseller and inspired a Paramount Pictures film. The author biography places Todd in Los Angeles with her husband.
