ADEVARURI ASCUNSE. Kelly Rimmer

Beth Walsh finds clues that cast doubt on her family's past. Her father's dementia has grown worse. He has had to move into a care home. As she clears his house, she finds pages in the attic. Someone wrote them by hand. They seem to be from her late mother's diary. Beth and her siblings thought their mother died in a car crash. They grew up with this belief. The pages lead Beth to doubt that account.

Kelly Rimmer's family novel explores motherhood, loss, and secrets. It suits readers drawn to these themes. Beth learns that her mother had postpartum depression, or depression after birth. She sees a husband unlike the loving father she knows. Beth has a young baby herself and struggles to cope. Her mother's words show links between their lives. Beth had not known of these ties.
