Tomie Yamazaki’s diary records the last months of Japanese writer Osamu Dazai’s life. It traces his inner pain and their intense love. They died together by suicide when Dazai was 39.

This personal account is for readers drawn to Dazai’s life and work. Yamazaki was his lover, but she also gave him care and close friendship. She took on roles like those of a mother and older sister. She nursed him, ran his home, handled messages, and helped manage his career. Her diary shows both his frailty and her deep devotion.

Iolanda Prodan translated the diary from Japanese. This edition marks its first translation outside Japan. It forms part of a series devoted to Osamu Dazai.
