На берегах Сены. Одоевцева

Irina Odoevtseva’s memoir follows Russian writers who lived in exile. She focuses on people she knew rather than herself. They include G. Ivanov, K. Balmont, I. Bunin, and I. Severyanin. G. Adamovich and M. Tsvetaeva also appear. Through their lives, she explores the Russian Silver Age abroad. These writers saw themselves as keepers of Russia’s literary traditions.

The book is for readers of Russian literature and Silver Age poetry. It follows her first memoir, На берегах Невы, whose success led her to write this second part. Odoevtseva was both a poet and a prose writer. She left Russia in 1922 and spent most of her life in France. She returned to her homeland in 1987. Her account draws on her ties to this world of exiled writers.
