PROIECTUL SILVERVIEW. John le Carre

Julian Lawndsley leaves a bright future in finance to run a bookshop. He hopes for a simpler life in an English seaside town. Within months, a guest named Edward disrupts his new life. Edward is a Polish immigrant who lives at Silverview. His home is a villa outside town. He seems to know much about Julian’s family. He also takes an odd interest in the bookshop’s affairs.

Meanwhile, a senior spy in London gets a warning letter. It warns of a dangerous leak of secrets. The search for the source leads to Julian’s quiet town.

This spy novel by John le Carré looks at duty and conscience. It pairs an untested newcomer with someone who has more experience. The story asks how love and loyalty shape choices about right and wrong. It suits readers who like spy tales with no clear moral answers.

The book is described as the author’s last novel. It forms part of the Buzz Books series. The Mystery Writers of America gave le Carré the Grand Master title.
